Carving Live Edge Walnut Without A CNC Machine!
Просмотров 1,3 тыс.16 часов назад
Episode #869 Today, we're doing a tribute sign for a good buddy of mine back in California. This walnut was tough to carve because it was a rounded back live edge piece. Which creates some challenges... 1" Bookman - makeawoodsign.com/products/1-layout-letter-set-bookman-font?_pos=2&_psq=bookman&_ss=e&_v=1.0 1.5" Bookman - makeawoodsign.com/products/1-5-layout-letter-set-bookman-font?_pos=1&_psq...

Adding Color To Woodworking Projects With Food Coloring
That is one huge bit to be dropping down.. something tells me you've done this a few times.. I try that, and the router flies out of hand. Rip cords out of wall project trashed..
Hahahaha...
That hippie woman of mine...😂😂
👍🏻
Thanks Mark!
Those curves are so helpful. Makes it easier and much more consistent. Love the carving liner, and sometimes it absolutely the best bit, but always try to use the carving liner if i can. It’s great to have both!
Couldn't agree more! The arches are a huge advantage 👍👍
Nice sign.
Thanks Mark!
Think it’s time for you to move over Ryan , keep that sawdust comin guys ❤
Thanks buddy! I'm trying to convince Amy to be on camera more
👍👍👍. Thanks Ryan / Amy
Any time, Pete👍👍
Far out, man. I mean it's groovy.
😂😂
Nice job... you know what they say... happy wife happy life...🤘🤘🤘
Words to live by...
That's what my wife keeps saying 😂😂
Cool dude, like that's awesome. I found the strips from those shiplap boards are great stand offs when spraying clear.
Thanks man! That's actually a great idea!
I use them allot. Very helpful. But omg you are butchering that fill stick not using it the correct way. They are expensive and your waisting so much. Ill make a series of proper ways to use them if i can
We've had them for a while, but just started actually using them. They work great!
Popping!
😂😂
You make a great team! I love it when my wife helps out with design :)
Me too! Amy has an eye for things that I just don't see
Nicejob
Thanks Roger!
Nice job, good lesson in carving. We need to actually see Amy more.
I'm trying to get her on camera, but she doesn't like it HAHA
Happy Hippie Wife, Happy Hippie Life! Well done, you two!
😂😂 Thanks Frank!
Cool hippie bus!
Thanks Irvin!
Putty and paint make a carpenter what he aint
We're definitely not carpenters HAHA
Hey guys! That’s really awesome on this short! I’d like to see if I can find them. Seems a lot less complicated than wood filler!
Oh man, they're WAY better!
No apostrophe needed if it is a family or more than one person just add the S to the end of the name. An apostrophe is used to show possession. Great work otherwise!!
Thanks David! When it comes to signs, I let the customer choose how they want it. Some want the apostrophe and some don't.
Nice video love what you guys always do. I’ve been looking into getting one of those for about a year now. Are you guys using the trim router or are using the full-size router?
Thanks Tammy! When using the sled, you definitely need a full size router with a 1/2" collet. The surfacing bit is beefy and takes out a ton of wood
Thanks
Wow😮beautiful
Thanks Charlie!
What a tune!!!!! Oh sorry great live edge ha!
😂😂Gotta love some Arrowsmith!
First. My favorite band of all & all time. Loved them since I understood music. Second. Wow that's Freakin cool looking edge. Love the look of it. Looks burnt yet professional all at same time. Great job. That would also make a awesome sign boarder. As always Great work
BEAUTIFUL, Absolutely beautiful You guys rock.
Thanks Charlie! This one is by far my favorite!
Thanks Ronald! It was surprisingly simple, but looks awesome!
Innovative in my opinion. Looks like it works, oaky or otherwise.
Thanks Christina! It definitely works and we'll refine it as we go
Great idea, keep it up.
Thanks Monte!
You can’t spell paint without “pain,” it’s tedious, but looks great in the long run. 😂
😂😂That's absolutely true!
Good to know about the Hercules router. I use the Rigid trim router and have been looking at getting another router.
It's a pretty good option for a great price!
Keep it sharp
Yup! Sharp bits make all the difference
nice
Thank you ❤
EZ E good idea 🤘🤘🤘
Thank you Dano ❤
Maybe try something like telescoping paint handles. I think you’re thinking outside the box! Great job!
Yeah, that would work too. Thank you Scott ❤
Very nice setup.
Thank you Mark ❤
Awesome video guys! Question Do you have a list of where you get some of your bits not on your site? Maybe a brand or store?
All of our bits are made by Amana. We are an Amana dealer so we get them directly from them. Most all of the bits we use are the ones we sell on the website.
Yes, I really enjoy Sawdust Diaries! I also love your gigantic work table!!! The PVC "handles" are a brilliant idea. They are super lightweight and work like a charm! The sled appears to be a very top quality product. There will be no stopping you now when flattening slabs for tables!
Thank you Miss Lori ❤
Nothing Oakie about that fellas. Great job!
Thanks so much ❤
Ingenuity at its finest......great video!
Thank you buddy❤
I like Crafted Elements. a good company. but I purchased their Juice groove jig and found that Rockler makes an easier to use one.
They are a good company, we have bought from them before.
That Okie rig will also save your backs. I have a small sled setup and I have to lean over with about a 45 degree angle to reach across, and my back gets stiff by the time I finish flattening projects that are only about the size of a cutting board.
For sure. I was feeling it in my back before we added the handles.
Just an idea, tape the power cord to the pvc so that you don't have to keep moving the cord out of the way.
Good idea, Thank you Keith ❤
Nice sled. You could also suspend the router sled from the ceiling on 4 cables and lower it to use it. Have the vacuum and cord from the ceiling also.
Thanks so much. We did consider that for the sled. I think we may do something like that for the power and vacuum.
Another great idea, you guys think of everything.
Thank you Irvin ❤
That is awesome! Great investment.
It really is an awesome tool!
Great idea 😂😂
Thank you😂😂 Gotta get creative sometimes
That's an awesome set up!!! Great Job
Thanks man!
Did guys hear a banjo lol. Love the video and looks great thanks guys😊
😂😂😂
Have you thought of suspending the power from above?
Good idea
Bonito proyecto maestros!😮 saludos
Or at least zip tie the power cord to the "Okie" handle.....
Thank you!!!
Yeah that would work too
Well done Eric the sign came out really good
Thank you Burt
